Alex is still with us at APC because we simply couldn’t afford to keep him hospitalized full-time, and we still haven’t managed to pay off his previous hospital bill.
As many of you know, Alex depends on a feeding tube while his mouth heals. It needs to stay in place for at least two months so he can receive food and medication.
During the night, Alex’s feeding tube became trapped between the bars of his cage. At some point, while trying to free himself, it was completely pulled out.
We cannot imagine how many hours he spent trapped like that… or the pain he endured.
The last time we fed him was around midnight. By morning, we rushed him straight to the emergency hospital.
Alex has now undergone another surgery to place a new feeding tube. He also had to spend another night at the hospital and continue on his special diet and medical care.
We are already modifying his enclosure to make sure this can never happen again. Every day we learn, adapt, and do everything we can to give him the best care possible.
This emergency has added even more expenses to an already overwhelming bill.
We still need $560 just to close Alex’s previous hospital invoice, and we don’t even know yet how much this emergency surgery and new feeding tube will cost.
If you can help us clear his old bill, it would allow us to focus on covering this new emergency instead of falling further behind.
Alex has fought so hard to stay alive. Please don’t let financial limitations stand in the way of his recovery.
