This helpless cat was left fighting for every breath he took as disease devoured his frail body and the frigid streets covered him with filth as he aimlessly roamed the roads of Beirut.

We spotted Rio during our TNR program.

Poor Rio never stood a chance alone in this world.
As rain covered the ground, this sweet boy was left barely holding on to life as the bitter cold air consumed his energy.

Although the merciless streets did a number on this baby, our rescue knew he had more fight left in him, so we worked tirelessly to save him from a tragic death.
After days spent trying to catch him, we finally managed to pick him up off the streets and give him the chance he deserves at a better life.

With that said, we knew his time was running out, so we rushed him to the vet where they started injecting his severely dehydrated body with antibiotics and vitamins.

Rio spent 2 months at the hospital. He had a severe pneumonia and he was not responding to the treatment as expected.

After 2 months, Rio’s health improved and was discharged from hospital to the nursery room of APC.

He was still sneezing and coughing.

Suddenly, spots that looked like wounds – started to appear on his neck, tail and leg.

It turned out Rio has microsporum canis which is a type of fungus that is very contagious to cats and humane.

Beside antibiotics and vitamins, Rio is currently receiving an additional treatment for the microsporum canis, which we expect it will be long and tedious.

We will keep you all updated as we continue to care for him but in the meantime, we ask that you please kindly consider sending him a donation to help cover the cost of his medical bills (700$).

Any amount will make the biggest difference for this precious cat! Thank you πŸ™πŸ»
