  • Description:Sasha was hit by a car when she was a 2-month-old kitten. She was left untreated for a while on the street before we could rescue her. After she was saved, we were informed that it was too late for her to move her legs again, so she will stay paralyzed for the rest of her life.
She suffers from megacolon; a chronic condition that is basically a mega-sized, stretched-out, weakened colon. We tried every kind of food available on the market to make her feel better, until we finally found Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Fiber Response, the only kibble that fit her needs and helped with expressing her bowels. She has to be manually expressed three times a day in order for her to survive, as she cannot urinate or defecate on her own. We tried physiotherapy, hoping she could move her legs again or go to the litter box on her own, but unfortunately, nothing could be done to change her current situation.
Due to megacolon, Sasha underwent two surgeries aiming at emptying her bowels because they were very hard and could not be expressed manually. We were advised to euthanize her as her quality of life was not satisfying, but we decided not to give up on her and we did everything in our power to finally have a stable diet that fits her condition.
After some time, her paralyzed legs were starting to drift apart, so we had to amputate them, which improved a lot her situation, as it was much easier to express her after the amputation.

She is healthy, spayed, fully vaccinated and FIV negative.
