Odin has left us. We knew he will not make it, but we kept hoping for a miracle. Sadly, he’s now gone from this cruel, heartless world—a world his pure soul didn’t belong to. Odin was a victim of war. He was left behind under heavy airstrikes in a heavily bombed area. His family didn’t even try to get him out of that dangerous place; they just left him. He was so thin, just skin and bones, showing he had been neglected long before the war began. And on top of that, he had cancer.

Odin fought so hard to live. He had a strong appetite and even went through two blood transfusions. But when he started chemotherapy, everything changed. The chemo affected his kidneys, a common side effect, and his appetite disappeared. He stopped eating from that moment on. We kept hoping that his creatinine level would drop, his kidneys would improve, and his appetite would return. But it didn’t.

Today, we came to see him. We took him out of his cage, brought him out of the hospital, and let him sit under the sun. We placed him on our lap and tried feeding him some tuna, hoping the strong smell might encourage him to eat. At that moment, Odin took his last breath, with a gentle smile on his face. We wish we could have captured this scene in a photo.
We know he’s in a better place now. This harsh world didn’t deserve a dog as kind and amazing as him.

We buried Odin today & just yesterday, we buried Mocha.

We are heartbroken. Our other animals in the hospital are suffering too. Micho is not eating. Mila is doing a bit better; she’s active and eating, but her blood count is still very low.

Please keep our animals in your thoughts. They need you, and we need your help. We are struggling to care for these innocent creatures who did nothing to deserve this. They didn’t ask for this war, yet they are among those suffering the most.

𝐁𝐚𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐏𝐂
We recently took in a family of six from a heavily bombed area in Beirut.
Sadly, the three kittens were in very poor condition and started to collapse soon after.

Mocha was the weakest, with fluid in her lungs, and was only skin and bones. Her tiny, fragile body couldn’t take it, and she passed away immediately at the hospital.

Mocha was suffering from bronchitis due to all the dust and chemicals she inhaled from the explosions and airstrikes💔

Losing her has broken our hearts. She didn’t deserve this, and she didn’t ask to be caught in a war. She suffered silently💔
She was buried at APC🌈

Micho and Mila went to the hospital too and they are on IV; they are severely anemic - though they were eating really well - and have a high fever of 40°C.
Both tested negative for Parvo but Mila tested positive for Corona and she is being monitored💔

Ash, another war victim, had to be rushed to the hospital too. She stopped eating and was vomiting a lot. She had an echo and everything looked normal but she is not okay.
She was kept at the hospital and IV and she is being monitored too😔

This is only today😭

Odin is still in critical condition and hasn’t eaten since Tuesday.
His kidneys are failing as a side effect of the chemo, but we are hoping and praying to see any sign of improvement💔

Our animals are getting infected from the dust and chemicals in the air caused by explosions and airstrikes.
We’ve never seen so many animals with burns and viruses. Some seem fine one day and are gone the next.
We are terrified for the animals we are rescuing from these war zones.
The chemicals they are inhaling during the airstrikes and explosions are harming them badly and we feel helpless and hopeless💔

We are praying hard for our animals to recover😭 Please help us support them; we are barely receiving donations, and we desperately need your help💔

𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐚 – Castana is a war survivor. An explosion nearby burned him badly, and he also tested positive for leishmania, erhlichia, and anaplasma. Castana is doing much better now, and his wounds have healed, though we’re not sure if his hair will grow back. He is still on treatment for leishmania, but hopefully, he will soon be able to join the other dogs and play. He is looking playful and very cute!

𝐂𝐢𝐞𝐜𝐨 – is also a war victim who had to be evacuated from the south. He is blind and was shot all over his face. Despite this, he adapted quickly at APC and has made friends with the other dogs. Sadly, one dog keeps trying to bully him, so we’re looking for a foster home for Cieco where he can feel safe.

𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐩 – is another victim of war trauma. After an explosion nearby, she suffered a serious neurological injury and couldn’t use her front paws or stand up properly. She had an MRI, and the results, sent to Europe, showed nothing serious. The vet has put her on medication for a month to see if she improves. If not, more tests will be needed to find out why she’s struggling to stand.

Freddy is still fighting for his life. He is taking antibiotics to help ease the inflammation in his eyes. We can’t wait for him to reach 1 kilo so we can proceed with surgeries to remove both eyes. Freddy is a war victim at just one month old💔

Veronica, our war-survivor chick from Dahye, looks happy at our Basse-cour! She has settled in happily, has a big appetite, and spends her days roaming with the other chickens and roosters.
Knowing she escaped a tragic fate of slaughter makes every moment with her even more meaningful. We are grateful that Veronika found her way to safety. She will live a peaceful and happy life here with us.

𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 Lollipop finally had

𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒
Lollipop finally had his bandage removed! His pins are perfectly in place, and he is still safe in his foster home. We couldn’t be happier.
Lollipop is a war victim. An explosion went off next to the building he was near, and he jumped in terror, breaking his jaw and all his toes. He needed a six-hour surgery with plates in his jaw and pins and plates in his toes.

Ash is another war victim. She was close to an airstrike, and her mouth and skin on her jaw were burned. Her jaw was also dislocated. Ash had to go through two urgent surgeries. She has now left the hospital and is recovering at APC. Her journey to full recovery is still long, but at least she is no longer in pain.

Bucky, a victim of abandonment, was left in Karantina. Sadly, as just a puppy, he was attacked by a pack of dogs, leaving him covered in scars and wounds on his face and body. Bucky left the hospital after being neutered and is now on antibiotics. He has joined Milou, another war victim, who doesn’t leave his side and is always jumping around him. Bucky is showing his sweet and patient side through it all.

Odin—another war victim—has his health a bit more stable, though we haven’t reached the minimum hematocrit level needed yet.
Thankfully, his blood levels didn’t drop as much this time—his last test showed a level of 29, then it dropped to 22, but it didn’t fall to 15 like before. He had his first chemotherapy session, and we are praying there won’t be any side effects.

We hope the treatment makes him stronger and helps control the fluid around his chest and heart. Right now, surgery isn’t an option because he’s still too weak, and he might not survive anesthesia.

Please keep Odin in your thoughts. We are incredibly grateful to @jeandib89 , for helping us secure 10 vials of chemotherapy. These were out of stock in Lebanon due to the war, and because of him, we were able to start Odin’s treatment before his health gets worse.
Odin will be closely monitored at the hospital to see how he responds to the chemo.

JJ and Ace were the oldest cats at the shelter. We rescued them back in August 2020, and from that time until now, Ace and JJ never received any adoption applications. It was heartbreaking that no one showed interest in them. They are the cutest and softest cats, but they were overlooked.

Their brothers, Midnight and TchuTchu, were adopted together in Canada, but JJ and Ace stayed behind at the shelter.
Thankfully, a wonderful association in France called @kitties.in.paris agreed to take them and help find them loving homes.
With their help, we were finally able to send JJ and Ace to France.

We are so grateful to the travel partners who agreed to take them, even during such dangerous times. Under the threat of airstrikes, we rushed to the airport with the crates, said a quick goodbye, and left immediately to avoid getting caught in any violence on the way there or back. The situation in Lebanon is very difficult due to the ongoing war.

It was a bittersweet farewell, but knowing they are now safe brings us joy. For the first time in their lives, JJ and Ace are in real homes. We cannot thank @kitties.in.paris enough for their kindness and support. We look forward to seeing JJ and Ace settled in their forever homes soon.

We have recently taken a family of six cats from Dahyeh, a heavily bombed suburb of Beirut, saved by @animalslebanon .

This area endured intense airstrikes, and nearly all the buildings were destroyed.

The cats’ building was in ruins, with broken furniture and debris everywhere, but thankfully, it hadn’t collapsed entirely.

The former resident, who had to evacuate, reached out to @animalslebanon to save her cats. Their incredible team was able to locate six of the eight cats. These six survivors include three adults and three kittens, all in a state of shock.
Covered in fleas and blackened by dust and residue from the explosions, they were so dirty and traumatized.

The kittens, Misho (male), Mila (female) & Mocha (female) are about 3-4 months old, while the adults, Zoe, Zuri (females), and Zoro (male), are between 1-2 years old.

Zoro, especially, is severely traumatized. He is so frightened that he injured his paw trying to escape.

Considering all they have been through—the bombs, shaking buildings, and isolation without food or water—it’s heartbreaking but understandable.

Only Zoro has been neutered, and the others urgently need spaying, neutering, vaccinations, deworming, and flea treatment. Along with them, we now care for 31 animals, each needing food, medical care, and basic supplies.

Our resources are stretched thin. The first family of five we rescued received only $50 in donations, which barely covers their basic needs. They need baby formula, pee pads, deworming, flea treatments, vaccinations, and kitten food. The mother also needs to be spayed. We urgently need your help to continue providing for these cats and other rescues from the war zones.

If you can also provide a temporary home, we will supply everything you need. By fostering, you will open space for us to rescue more animals in need.

Buttercup is a victim of the ongoing war in Lebanon.
Found in the south, Buttercup was discovered near the site of an explosion. She is estimated to be only four to five months old.
Although she doesn’t have broken bones, the blast caused significant trauma to her body, affecting her nerves. This trauma has impaired her ability to stand or walk properly on her front paws. Sometimes she manages to stay upright; other times, she struggles. Her back paws are okay, but the explosion impacted her neurological system, leading to weakness and instability in her front legs.

Despite all this, Buttercup is incredibly a sweet kitten. She endures pain, trauma, and shock, yet she allows us to pet her and even purrs when she is comforted. We are relieved to have her under our care where she can receive the attention and support she needs.

Buttercup needed an MRI scan to better understand her condition.

Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to fund this expensive procedure, which involved imaging three key areas: her head, cervical spine (upper part of the spine that is located in the neck), and brachial plexus (network of nerves that starts from the neck and goes down to the shoulder, arm, and hand).

These scans are crucial to identifying the extent of her neurological trauma and determining how to proceed with treatment. The results of the MRI will be sent to a specialist in Europe for analysis, after which it will be decided on the best surgical options for her.

Since the war began, we have taken in 31 animals, including Buttercup. Most of them required surgeries or specialized care, pushing our space and finances to their limits.

Our small sanctuary is doing everything possible to sustain these new rescues alongside our current residents, despite the rising costs of medical supplies and food, which are becoming increasingly scarce.
