  • Description:Sousou, a stray cat we've cared for through our feeding program for the past five years, recently went missing for a week, causing us great concern. After a frantic search, we found her hiding in a broken car with a large, open wound on her stomach. It took us an hour to catch her, as she was terrified and kept running away. At the hospital, we were devastated to learn that a mammary tumor had burst through her stomach, and further tests revealed that the cancer had spread to her spleen and liver. Sousou was also suffering from severe anemia and urgently needed a blood transfusion before surgery. Despite the grim prognosis, we believed in Sousou’s strength and were determined to give her a fighting chance, even considering chemotherapy. After her surgery, the biopsy brought us incredible relief—the tumor on her liver was benign, meaning she wouldn't need chemotherapy. However, we still needed to monitor her closely with monthly ultrasounds, as mammary tumors can be aggressive. Sadly, a follow-up ultrasound a month later revealed an enlarged lymph node, signaling that the cancer had returned. Sousou had two chemotherapy sadly she didnt react well to them, she stopped eating and started vomiting so the vet decided to stop her sessions and after one month of stopping her chemo sessions, she had another echo and it turned that she is for now cancer free. Since her cancer is agressive the vet will need to check her every 3 month to see if the cancer will reappear again or not.
