Milou five month-old puppy who was abandoned in the South when the war began. Milou arrived with scabies and parvo. Despite everything, he managed to recover from parvo, and he will soon meet the other dogs at the shelter.
Then we have Lover, who is still undergoing treatment for Leishmania. His eyes have shown improvement; one eye is now clear, while the other still has cloudiness. Lover has found happiness despite his challenges and has become best friends with Ember.
Lastly, we have Freddy, a kitten rescued from the suburbs of Beirut, a heavily affected war zone. Freddy’s brother didn’t survive, and Freddy himself is in fragile health. His eyes are infected and inflamed, popping out daily, and he urgently needs surgery to remove them. However, Freddy needs to reach 700 grams for a safer surgery.
Right now, his weight is too low, and there’s a 60% risk he might not wake up from anesthesia if we proceed early. Freddy is eating, though his appetite has dropped due to pain. He is on antibiotics, and we are hoping for his strength to increase so he can undergo surgery with a better chance of survival.
What an ugly war – it is heartbreaking to witness this suffering, for both people and animals. We are praying for peace, for their sake and ours.
