Yesterday, we received a call about four puppies that matched the descriptions of the ones we had cared for. At 12:30 a.m., we rushed to Karantina, and it turned out to be true—these were indeed four of the missing puppies. Three were from the same litter, and one, a light brown puppy, was from another mother. Sadly, both litters still have missing siblings.
The light brown puppy has five missing siblings, and the three gray puppies have one sibling still unaccounted for. The mother of the gray puppies was also dumped, and while we were relieved to know the puppies were left together, their mother was nowhere to be found. 💔
We were never told exactly where these puppies were found. The people from the port contacted us, claiming they were found nearby, outside the port. When we arrived, it was raining heavily, and the puppies were soaked, shivering, and crying. One puppy had a visibly inflamed face.
By 1:30 a.m., we had brought them back to APC. We dried them, fed them, and let them rest. The next morning, they were taken to the hospital.
One puppy, whom we named Lana, was breathing very fast, and we feared she might have a condition similar to Tayko’s. Thankfully, Lana is okay. Another puppy, whom we named Stitch, has four bite wounds and a large abscess on his face. If antibiotics don’t work, Stitch may need surgery. These injuries likely happened when the puppies were thrown out of the port and into the territory of the Karantina dogs, who live in packs and don’t accept newcomers. We assume dogs attacked them, and perhaps their mother tried to protect her babies, but she didn’t survive. Maybe one puppy didn’t make it either, while another survived the bites💔
These 4 puppies somehow appeared, but the rest have disappeared completely. We assume they were dumped together—unless those heartless people even decided to separate the puppies. As if separating them from their mothers wasn’t cruel enough!
Shame on everyone who was involved in this horrific act.
