Bucky is our newest rescue—a puppy of just 5-6 months who once lived in a home but was suddenly left to fend for himself on the streets of Karantina.
This area, home to over 500 dogs living in packs, is no place for a puppy like Bucky.
Sadly, many throw their dogs here, assuming there are people always feeding in this area.
But the reality is very harsh—every day, we see dogs hit by cars, suffering from the toxic environment, or attacked by other dogs.
Bucky, unfamiliar with the tough life in Karantina, was just trying to survive.
He hid and stayed close to a few other puppies, running away every time we approached to leave food.
After a week alone, we found him badly injured: his left cheek and thigh were deeply bitten, his eyelid torn, and one ear so severely bitten it was covered in blood.
He also had an open wound on his forehead (thankfully not needing stitches) and a long wound on his back, likely from being dragged on the asphalt. The pack dogs hadn’t accepted him, and he paid the price for being new.
We were heartbroken for Bucky and decided he couldn’t stay there. The day before we rescued him, Bucky clung to our window, as if begging us not to leave, with tears in his eyes💔
After hours of searching the next day, we finally found him and rushed him to the hospital. His injuries were severe, and he was in so much pain that we had to sedate him to treat his wounds. Bucky is now safe, on antibiotics, and we need to clean his injuries daily.
He stayed one night at the hospital and got neutered.
We know that Bucky may never be adopted because of his breed, but he has a home with us now, where he will always be safe and loved.
