- Description:Caramel was dumped after living in a home, and as expected, she couldn’t survive on the streets, and she badly hurt her eye in the process. She came to APC in excruciating pain and, unfortunately, her eye wasn’t salvable. She immediately adapted to life in the sanctuary and turned out to be very affectionate.
After a few months at APC, Caramel caught the flu and we had to postpone her enucleation surgery. After her eye was removed, her mood shifted and it was clear that she absolutely hated the cone. 2 months after she first caught the flu, Caramel fell ill again and even though she was given antibiotics and cortisone shots, she wasn’t getting better. She constantly had a sore throat, she was dehydrated and barely eating. She had to spend endless days at the hospital on IV because it is always very hard to give her medication, as she throws up every time we tried to force pills down her throat.
She was hospitalized many times after that, and diagnosed with stomatitis and FIV, and later, with regenerative anemia. Leaving her at the hospital really broke our hearts because she was extremely depressed.
Due to her diagnosis, we had to extract all her teeth except her canines to try and improve her condition.
After being hospitalized for so long and being so depressed, Caramel looked so thin and frail, but she was fortunately doing much better and regained her energy.
We flew her to Montreal, Canada, where she is now fostered at The Pussy Patrol (facebook.com/profile.php?id=100068716525541&mibextid=LQQJ4d).
Caramel is spayed and fully vaccinated. However, she is FIV positive, so her health must always be monitored closely. - Notes:This cat is fostered in Montreal, Canada. You will not find her at APC.
