Information

  • Pet Name:Gildy
  • Type:Cat
  • Sex:Female
  • Age:Adult
  • Size:Small
  • Description:Gildy was originally one of the stray cats living near an APC member’s home. She used to be fed daily, until she was hit by a car. Her tail was broken and she was not moving at all. We also suspected that she was suffering from mange, as she kept scratching her ear.
Her condition was very critical because she was hit in a very sensitive area, damaging her nerves and putting her at risk of becoming incontinent. She underwent a surgery that was thankfully successful, allowing her to go to the litter box without assistance.
As for her ear, it turned out that she had a condition called polyp, a growth that usually occurs in younger cats, it starts in the middle of the ear cavity and could rupture the eardrum and continue its way into the ear canal. Her polyp was so large that it was at risk to reach her brain, which could be fatal. She underwent another surgery soon after the first one to remove the growth and infection.
Gildy is one of the cats that did not adapt well to the shelter, she tends to hide and avoid human contact, so she needs a very patient adopter who will gain her trust. She used to be very affectionate and social when she was on the streets, even though she was very independent. We believe that she is more suited to live in a home and her initial character will peak through with a loving family.
She is now healthy, fully vaccinated, spayed and FIV negative.
