Information

  • Pet Name:Lover
  • Type:Dog
  • Sex:Male
  • Age:Adult
  • Size:Large
  • Description:Lover was originally named by the ignorant people who had him “Killer”, because in their opinion, Pitbulls are supposed to be killers. We received a blurry picture of a dog who looked emaciated and on the verge of death. We rushed to save him from his evil owners who couldn’t care less that he was skin and bones and barely able to move. They did not even consider taking him to the vet. They even proudly showed us a video of him when he was healthy.
We found him extremely dirty, emaciated, full of ticks and fleas, and infected with worms. He could barely stand, and we couldn’t take him inside the vet clinic without getting rid of his ticks and fleas to keep the other animals safe. We had to bathe him for more than two hours on the sidewalk, removing the hundreds of ticks sucking his blood. We took him to the vet for tests; he was in excruciating pain, and we thought we were going to lose him.
We had to give him a blood transfusion, as he was barely conscious. He also tested positive for leishmaniasis, a deadly infection if left untreated. His pain and sadness were so immense that he was refusing to eat. When he started to get better, he ate some raw meat to improve his blood count, which was catastrophic. We could barely believe that he was alive.
Slowly but surely, Lover started healing. His countless scars and wounds are a constant reminder of how much he has suffered throughout his life. He is very playful and sweet, and we cannot understand how anyone could neglect him so much. He started his leishmaniasis treatment and gained some weight. He loves playing with toys, sunbathing, and running around, finally free of the chain he was stuck with all his life.
Lover finally tested negative for leishmaniasis and his blood count is very good.
Unfortunately, once he started gaining weight, we started noticing an injury to his leg. It turned out that he had to undergo a TPLO surgery.
Lover has finally recovered from the surgery and he has healed completely.
He has completed his physiotherapy sessions and is now fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and up for adoption.
He is very good with dogs (not alpha dogs), kids, and adults, but he is very reactive to cats.
