  • Description:Ruby was dumped by her family and hit by a car who left her to die on the side of the road. Some people were kind enough to give her food and water, but no one could take her off the street, as she was unable to move. A few days later, a rescuer saved her and took her to the vet.
It turned out that she suffered fractures in her right back leg and her front left one. Her rescuer took her to a vet where she underwent two surgeries to fix the fractures. Although she was in an immense amount of pain, she still managed to wag her tail and be the sweetest dog ever.
After the surgery, Ruby stopped eating and moving, and she became numb, not reacting to any touch. The vet told us both her legs were very inflamed and her blood tests were really bad. We were them informed that she needed to undergo two revision surgeries, as the pins in her legs were not fixed to the bone and shifted enough to reach the sciatic nerve, causing her excruciating pain. The vet was shocked at the gravity of the infection in her front leg; we were afraid we might have to amputate it.
As her condition was not getting better, we performed a culture to test her for antibiotic resistance, and the results were scary; the bacteria was resistant to so many medications and our options were limited. Once she started receiving the right, we were allowed to take her to the shelter where she would be more comfortable to heal. In order to avoid amputation, Ruby had to go to physical therapy 3 to 4 times a week, and thankfully, she started getting better. She is now happily living in a foster home, with foster parents who take care of her and love her so much.
She is finally healthy, spayed, fully vaccinated and waiting for her forever family to give her the life she deserves.
  • Notes:Ruby is happily adopted in France. You will not find her at the shelter, we just wanted to share her happy ending with you.
