  • Description:Tommy’s story is sad and unfair. He was bought from a pet shop, then abandoned THREE TIMES for reasons we cannot understand. Cats hate change, so after already going through 4 different places, he got depressed and stopped using the litter box. The last family who took him saw that he was not getting along with their cat, so they dumped him on their roof for 7 months.
When we heard his story, we took him in and saved him from the cruel people who did this to him. He was heartbroken, and extremely depressed, it made our hearts ache. His coat was extremely matted and, little did we know, leaving him for so long under the sun gave him multiple heat strokes. During summer, he stopped eating, lost a lot of weight, and started breathing heavily. We thought it was because of the heat, but we quickly noticed that something was wrong and rushed him to the vet who informed us that he was suffering from seizures and that we brought him right on time or we would have lost him.
Tommy spent several nights at the hospital, as he was in critical condition. He kept refusing food, so we had to force feed him for a while. After a long list of tests, he was diagnosed with congenital heart failure. The left side of his heart was failing due to the heat strokes he suffered on the roof, without anyone noticing him. His lungs started to build up fluids and had to be drained daily.
Slowly but surely, Tommy started to get better and his lungs cleared up a bit. We had to check him out of the hospital because he was suffering from severe depression, and we did not want to lose him.
Unexpectedly, although his condition was supposed to be permanent, on our last visit to the vet, the tests showed that Tommy was completely healed from his heart condition. We believe that this is miracle. He was supposed to be on heart medication for the rest of his life, but he magically got better, proving to us that love and care can heal everything. We are still in shock and disbelief, it is truly a miracle.
Tommy is healthy, neutered, fully vaccinated and FIV negative.
  • Notes:Tommy is happily adopted in Luxembourg. You will not find him at the shelter, we just wanted to share his happy ending with you.
