We came to APC last week and were welcomed by a new dog that we never met before.
She roamed around our doors for a good time.
We fed her and gave her water.
She made herself comfortable at the parking lot and took a corner for herself.
We agreed to spay her if she sticks around and then release her.
We noticed at some point that she was limping whenever she tries to stand up.
We took her the next day to the vet and we were shocked to know that this poor girl was shot multiple times on her head, body and legs.
Nothing can be done surgically at this point for the pellets in her body and the slight limp she has will always stay as one pellet had hit the one of the nerves of her leg.
We did a full blood test, snap4dx, distemper and Leishmania tests.
We were so sad to be informed that she was Leishmania positive. We repeated the test twice and she still tested positive ๐
Leishmania is a 6 month treatment. It is ๐๐ซ๐ฃ๐๐ก๐ฆ๐๐ฉ๐, ๐๐ข๐ก๐ & ๐ก๐ข๐ง found in Lebanon ๐
Also Leishmania is fatal if left untreated.
We called the dog Gaรฏa.
After taking unexpectedly 5 dogs under our care 3 weeks ago due to the crisis that occurred, the last thing we were expecting is to have a new rescue.
We have so far 2 dogs with Leishmania: Haven & Gaรฏa.
Gaรฏa cannot be with Haven because the latter has scabies.
We need urgently your help with Gaรฏaโs medical treatment, vaccination, spaying and ongoing tests to monitor her blood level.
Also Gaรฏa CANNOT be with the other dogs as she is contagious.
We need URGENTLY a temporary foster for Gaรฏa. We will be providing everything. We will also teach you how to give her medications.
Where she is kept currently is not proper for her.
Gaรฏa is an easy going dog. She is extremely friendly and adores to be cuddled.
