Dear friends,
With every airstrike, our shelter shook. The noise, the smoke, the fear was overwhelming, not just for us but for our animals too.
While we are grateful for the ceasefire, the destruction around us is beyond repair. The air is filled with toxicity, and we are inhaling it—our animals too. The trauma we have lived through is unimaginable, and now the effects of war are starting to show on our animals.
Nour, a war victim, is in the hospital with a sudden fever of 40°C. She has been there for three days, and her fever isn’t going down. All her tests are normal—it’s likely stress. She is being closely monitored, and more tests are underway.
Zoro is vomiting blood. Thankfully, an echo showed nothing serious. Again, it’s stress. The constant explosions near our shelter, the airstrikes—it’s taking a toll.
Tabboush, one of our rescued cats, was vomiting non-stop from stress. Thankfully, we found him a foster home—a truly amazing one. While he is still vomiting due to a stomach ulcer he developed, he is being treated and already looks happier and feels safer.
Other cats have also been taken to the hospital. They are unwell, breathing in toxic air after each attack. Their immunity dropped, and so has ours.
Many of our cats and dogs are suffering from diarrhea, likely caused by the stress and the toxicity in the air. We are doing our best to help them feel better, even adding CBD oil to their food to ease their symptoms and calm their nerves.
Our country was being destroyed. We were dying every day. Our animals were dying every day.
We need your support more than ever. Our animals are still sick. They need treatment, care, and a safe space. We cannot do this without you.
Please, help us help them.
With heavy hearts,
APC Team
