𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐍 𝐅𝐎𝐔

𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐍 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐒 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄
𝐀- 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥:
Pearl is a victim of abuse. Someone kicked her in the eye, and she was at risk of losing her vision. Thankfully, with proper care and regular use of eye drops, her condition improved. However, during a routine checkup, we discovered that her intraocular pressure was low. We immediately started her on new eye drops, and after her most recent checkup, the pressure has stabilized. Pearl still requires ongoing eye drops, but thankfully, her vision and overall eye health are now stable.

𝐁- 𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐭𝐚, 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐲:
These three are war victims who were rescued from active war zones with heavy airstrikes and bombings. The shrapnel and dust caused severe eye infections in all of them, resulting in vision loss.

- 𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐭𝐚: One of Ashta’s eyes has regained vision, but the other is completely damaged and needs to be removed. This procedure, called enucleation, will be done once she reaches 2 kilograms to ensure her safety during surgery. Her damaged eye is currently infected and discharging pus, so we are monitoring her closely.

- 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐥: Assal’s situation is a bit better. One of her eyes has regained vision, and while the other eye is still blurry, it does not need surgery. She continues to receive eye drops, and we are hopeful her blurry vision will improve, even if it’s not perfect.

- 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐲: Unfortunately, Freddy’s injuries were the most severe, leaving him fully blind. His eyes were severely damaged, and we feared they might rupture. With antibiotics, the swelling has reduced, and his eyes are now stable. Initially, we planned to remove his eyes once he reaches 1 kilogram, but now that they are stable, we will wait until he reaches 2 kilograms to reduce the risk of complications during anesthesia.

These kittens have endured so much, and we are doing everything we can to provide them with the care they need. From surgeries to regular checkups, medications, and specialized kitten food, their needs are significant. $𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐤𝐨 Tayko, the one-and-a-half-month-old puppy we recently rescued was found with abnormal breathing. Echogram and X-rays showed that Tayko’s diaphragm was torn, and his abdominal organs had shifted upwards, pressing on his heart and completely hiding it. We initially stabilized him and brought him out of the hospital, as he seemed somewhat stable. However, Tayko quickly grew weaker. He developed diarrhoea and his breathing became more rapid. We had no choice but to rush him back to the hospital. Our surgeon examined Tayko on Monday and discovered the severity of his condition. Tayko required immediate surgery, even though it had originally been scheduled for Tuesday. During the examination and additional X-rays, we learned that Tayko’s injuries were far worse than we thought. Beside his torn diaphragm, Tayko’s: - Left thigh is broken. - Left hip is broken and; - Joints in his right hand are dislocated. During surgery, the surgeon had to remove Tayko’s pericardium, the protective sac surrounding his heart. The pericardium was causing complications because it had been compressed by his displaced organs. Tayko’s recovery is now at a critical stage due to the risk of hypervolemia and reperfusion injury. Hypervolemia refers to an excessive buildup of fluid in the blood, which can put additional strain on his already fragile heart and lungs. Reperfusion injury occurs when blood flow returns to tissues that were compressed or deprived of oxygen for an extended period, potentially causing further damage. These next 48 hours are crucial for Tayko’s survival. Once he recovers, we will begin addressing the fractures and planning the necessary surgeries. We cannot comprehend the level of cruelty inflicted on this helpless puppy, especially during these challenging times of war. The suffering he endured is shocking. Tayko still has a long road ahead, including further surgeries to repair his broken bones. Please keep him in your thoughts. All three kittens—Micho, Mila, and Ash—are war victims who have been through so much already.

Ash tested positive for Parvo, which is a serious condition. She is still in the hospital. Thankfully, she has stopped vomiting, but she continues to have diarrhea and needs to be force-fed to stay strong.

Micho might have Calici, and Mila tested positive for Corona. Thankfully, both Mila and Micho’s symptoms are still minor because we got them to the hospital just in time.

Milo and Micho were able to leave the hospital yesterday and are now back at the APC. Each of them is isolated in their own cage to keep them safe and give them the rest they need to recover fully.

Please keep these three little fighters in your thoughts as they continue to battle their illnesses. We are doing everything we can for them.

𝐊𝐢𝐫𝐚: 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐇𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧
Kira is a 3-year-old husky who has been chained for the past two years to an extremely short leash that left her unable to sit or lie down.
She spent all her time chained, living in the same spot where she had to pee and poop. She was never walked, never allowed to play, and never knew what it meant to be free.

She was used for breeding, her only purpose being to produce puppies. She is obese from lack of movement and has no idea how to let out her energy as a husky should.

When we came to rescue her, she was crying to be set free. The moment we unchained her, she knew she was saved. It was as if she finally felt what it means to be loved.

We had to pay $150 to secure her freedom, but it was worth every cent. Kira is now safe with us at APC. She tested positive for Ehrlichia, but otherwise, she is healthy. She will be spayed soon and finally get the care and love she deserves.

Kira is simply ADORABLE. She loves to play, jump, and explore—a true husky spirit shining through despite her past.

While feeding the dogs in Karantina, we discovered three new puppies left in the area.

One of the puppies, now named Tayko, looked very weak, sitting alone & looking unwell. He was so thin. At first, we worried he might have Parvo, but he had appetite so we felt a bit relieved. However, we quickly noticed that his breathing was very fast, which was not normal.

X-rays have revealed that Tayko has a diaphragmatic hernia. This means his diaphragm—the muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen—is torn, allowing his abdominal organs to press into his chest cavity, which affects his breathing and is potentially life-threatening.

This tear has allowed organs like the liver, stomach, and intestines to move into the chest area, obstructing the view of his heart. This is why his heart could not be clearly seen on the X-ray or echocardiogram.

The vet explained that this type of injury is often caused by severe trauma, such as being kicked by someone or hit by a car. However, we know that if Tayko had been hit by a car, he would likely have died immediately, as mainly trucks pass through the area, and he wouldn’t have survived such an impact.

It’s heartbreaking that, even amidst all that is happening, someone could still be cruel enough to harm a defenseless puppy. With the war in Lebanon, we had hoped people would find compassion. Despite the suffering and loss we endure daily, some still show no mercy, taking their anger out on helpless animals.

Tayko is only about six weeks old and is now in the hospital under close monitoring. His surgery is scheduled for next week, but we need to stabilize him first, as he is very fragile. We want to make sure he is strong enough for surgery to avoid any risks under anesthesia.

Unfortunately, we are unable to take in the other two puppies. We have recently rescued 35 new animals from the war zones. We have reached our maximum capacity at the shelter, both in terms of space and finances. Tayko deserves a chance to heal, free from suffering and trauma. 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 We are deeply sorry f $𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 We are deeply sorry for constantly sharing bad news on our page, but we are in the middle of a war, and sadly, there is little good that comes from it—especially for the animals who are suffering. Please bear with us as we update you on these heartbreaking situations daily. On Friday, we lost Mocha. On Saturday, we lost Odin. And on Sunday, we got the devastating news that Ash tested positive for Parvo. We are truly heartbroken. Parvo is a highly contagious disease affecting both dogs and cats. Ash is a victim of this war; she was near an explosion in the south. Her injuries were severe: the skin around her mouth melted, her jaw was dislocated, and she suffered fractures to the bones under her eyes, lower spine, and tailbone. She has already undergone two emergency surgeries and stayed in the hospital for a long time, only to return now to battle Parvo💔 We are praying she can survive this-another loss is more than we can bear. Since the war began, we have taken in 35 animals. With no isolated rooms available and no fosters stepping up, our animals are staying together. Some were vaccinated during their checkups, but others are not, and we lack the resources to keep them apart. The moment Ash showed symptoms, we rushed her to the hospital. We are doing everything possible to prevent this disease from spreading to the others. We have thoroughly disinfected the area where Ash was staying and are closely monitoring the other cats for any signs of Parvo. Mentally, physically, and financially, we are stretched to the limit. Micho still has a high fever, along with Mila. Micho isn’t eating well, but Mila is. All three—Ash, Mila, and Micho—are still in the hospital. We urgently need your help to cover their medical bills, as well as Odin’s final hospital expenses and blood transfusions, which have totaled $1,235. So far, we have received only $200.
