We found Sasha when she was just a kittenโ€”shy and quiet. She grew up at the shelter, and while she became a truly beautiful cat, something about her seemed to draw the wrong kind of attention from the others. Despite having a shelter full of social cats, Sasha was relentlessly bullied. We never understood why.

We tried everythingโ€”introductions, slow re-socialization, even temporary separationsโ€”but nothing worked. She remained scared, withdrawn, always hiding. So we kept her isolated, not out of choice, but to protect her.

Then came a miracle. A dear friend connected us with a kind family in Spain looking to adopt a catโ€”one that needed a little extra love. We told them about Sasha, and they didnโ€™t hesitate. They understood she wasnโ€™t the kind of cat whoโ€™d come running to greet you. They chose her anyway.

Today, Sasha lives in Spain with the most loving, patient family we could have hoped for. Sheโ€™s still healing. She doesnโ€™t like being held yet, but she no longer runs or hides. She stays in the same room. Sheโ€™s gaining confidence. Slowly, sheโ€™s learning that she is finally safe.

To her adoptive father: we canโ€™t thank you enough. Most people pass on the shy onesโ€”the ones who donโ€™t come forward. But you saw Sasha and gave her a chance. You saved her. And that means everything to us.

A final thank you to her travel partner, @celineabdoo .
