Once again, we want to reassure everyone: distemper is NOT contagious to humans and not to cats—it is only contagious to other dogs.

We’ve now vaccinated 26 dogs against both distemper and rabies, including dogs from unaffected areas to protect them in advance.
Currently, five dogs are hospitalized. In addition to Pancho, Stella, and Bryanna, we’ve also taken in Salman, who started coughing—a worrying early sign of distemper, as it typically begins by attacking the lungs.

We also admitted a mother dog (still unnamed) whose puppy officially died from distemper. He was found lifeless in a hole💔 The mother has a fever and is showing early signs of neurological issues—a small nervous tic. We are extremely concerned for her.

We don’t know how long these dogs will remain at the hospital. And the challenge doesn’t end there: even after recovery, they must be isolated for 3 months to avoid infecting other dogs.

So far, we have raised $3,140 out of our $5,000 goal.
But we know this won’t be enough. We still need to secure fosters who can handle contagious dogs and ensure proper care—this includes protective clothing, gloves, shoe covers, food, disinfectants, and more.

Please, if you can, even $1 makes a difference.
These dogs are fighting for their lives, and we are doing everything we can—but we can’t do it without you.

Sadly, Lover’s eyes had to be removed—there was no way to save them.

Tuna had his first ear surgery today, during which one of his ear canals was surgically closed. He’ll undergo a second surgery in 10 days to close the other ear canal and he will be officially deaf💔

The procedures went well, and both are now recovering.
But unfortunately, we still haven’t raised enough funds to cover their medical expenses.
We’re still short $435 for Lover and $580 for Tuna.

If you can help in any way—big or small—it would mean the world to us and to them.
Thank you for standing by these precious souls.

First and foremost: Distemper is NOT contagious to humans or to cats.
Please do not panic or fear these dogs—they are not a danger to you.

We’re facing an emergency—no, a catastrophe.

We were hesitant to share this, afraid people might overreact and turn against the dogs, fearing they’re contagious.
But the truth is: we are desperate. We need help, NOW.

Nearly 50 dogs in Karantina have contracted distemper.
Two full districts are affected—and the virus is spreading fast.

Distemper is fatal. There is no cure.
It begins with green discharge from the eyes and nose, progresses to the lungs, then attacks the nervous system, and finally—death.

We already lost one of our beloved dogs.
She was young, full of life, recently spayed, and ready for adoption.
We were preparing her for a new future.
She died suddenly. We’re devastated.

We don’t know how the virus got to Karantina.
Distemper is rare in Lebanon.
There were no signs of new, sick dogs—perhaps the recent sandstorm carried something in. We simply don’t know.

On Sunday, we rushed two dogs to the emergency vet.
It’s incredibly difficult to find isolated hospital rooms—this virus is extremely contagious among dogs.

Pancho, who was healthy just a week ago, is now hospitalized.
He’s weak, disoriented, has blurred vision, and mucous discharge. We thought it was just sandstorm irritation. But it was distemper.

Stella, from another district, showed signs in her eyes too.
We thought someone had injured her.
She refused food, seemed weak—again, we didn’t realize it was distemper. Now she’s also hospitalized.

We are heartbroken. We are overwhelmed. We’re doing everything we can, but we can’t face this crisis alone.

We need your help—urgently.
Pancho and Stella are fighting for their lives.
Over 50 dogs are at risk.
Our plan is to immediately vaccinate every dog not yet showing symptoms.
But we need resources, fast.
Please—donate, share, support.
Time is running out💔

We found Sasha when she was just a kitten—shy and quiet. She grew up at the shelter, and while she became a truly beautiful cat, something about her seemed to draw the wrong kind of attention from the others. Despite having a shelter full of social cats, Sasha was relentlessly bullied. We never understood why.

We tried everything—introductions, slow re-socialization, even temporary separations—but nothing worked. She remained scared, withdrawn, always hiding. So we kept her isolated, not out of choice, but to protect her.

Then came a miracle. A dear friend connected us with a kind family in Spain looking to adopt a cat—one that needed a little extra love. We told them about Sasha, and they didn’t hesitate. They understood she wasn’t the kind of cat who’d come running to greet you. They chose her anyway.

Today, Sasha lives in Spain with the most loving, patient family we could have hoped for. She’s still healing. She doesn’t like being held yet, but she no longer runs or hides. She stays in the same room. She’s gaining confidence. Slowly, she’s learning that she is finally safe.

To her adoptive father: we can’t thank you enough. Most people pass on the shy ones—the ones who don’t come forward. But you saw Sasha and gave her a chance. You saved her. And that means everything to us.

A final thank you to her travel partner, @celineabdoo .
Your help made a difference in Sasha’s life♥️

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

We are so proud to say our dogs were the first to We are so proud to say our dogs were the first to ever enter the American University of Beirut @aub_lebanon —and they were showered with love! ❤️

We had a beautiful ‘Therapy Dog’ collaboration with AUB to help students de-stress before exams.

Thank you to Ms. Sarah-joe Chamate Director of Counseling Center for making it happen, thank you to the Office of Student Affairs @osa.aub and to every student who hugged, laughed with, and comforted our dogs—as much as our dogs comforted and loved you back 🐶

We loved meeting so many kind souls, and we hope you all aced your exams!

See you soon—at the shelter or back on campus 🙏

Lover was one of the most abused dogs we’ve ever seen. He was extremely skinny, and the marks of pain and neglect were all over his body. He had leishmania and went through five surgeries. He made it through, and we were so hopeful.

But then, he got leishmania again—and this time, it took his vision. We tried everything, but the disease was stronger than us. Lover is now completely blind💔

As if that wasn’t enough, his eyes are now causing him pain and the only option left is to remove them. It’s heartbreaking😭
Lover has gone from one illness to another with no break. And now, this💔💔

We need to raise $600 to cover the surgery to remove his eyes.
Please help us.

And we’re still short $380 for Tuna’s ear surgery, which is scheduled for this Wednesday.

Please, if you can help with any amount, it would mean everything.

Tuna, our senior mini terrier dog, has been through so much. He was cruelly mistreated, left malnourished, and abandoned by a heartless family. Since we rescued him, he’s had multiple surgeries to remove large, dangerous tumors, and has always suffered from painful, recurring ear infections.

Recently, we scheduled a surgery to clean his ears (an otoscopy) and remove a new mass found in his stomach. Before proceeding, we did a CT scan—and what we found left us in shock.

Tuna has ear canal stenosis, a condition where the ear canals become extremely narrow due to chronic infection and inflammation. In his case, the infection had been so severe and untreated for so long that the cartilage in his ears had hardened, almost like bone. This caused permanent damage, and sadly, no treatment or cleaning will help anymore.

Tuna is already barely hearing, and to stop the pain and prevent more infection, both ear canals will need to be surgically closed—a procedure that will leave him completely DEAF. It’s heartbreaking, but it’s the only way to relieve his pain.

The only good news: the mass in his stomach turned out to be a benign nodule, resting on a very delicate area of the intestine. The surgeon decided it’s too risky to remove it and confirmed it won’t grow, so it was left untouched.

Tuna is now scheduled for two more surgeries:
	•	First ear: next week
	•	Second ear: 10 days later

Tuna was suffering in silence💔

We still need to raise $580 for his surgeries.
The original surgery (nodule + otoscopy) was estimated at $1,200. But now, with the new discovery, we are waiting for an updated quote. Hopefully it will stay within that range—but it definitely won’t be less.

Please help us cover the $580 still missing. Every dollar counts.
