Tommy was rescued a month ago after there was a social media outcry about a cat who was being kept on the rooftop of a home.

Poor Tommy had been bounced around from one home to the other, and his fourth family had him living on the roof for π…πˆπ•π„ 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐑𝐬 straight; constantly exposed to the sun.

We decided to take the case.

When received at APC, Tommy looked very depressed.

Slowly, he started coming out of his shell.
We received tons of applications for his adoption, and we were excited that Tommy was going to get to live the life he deserved.

Unfortunately, last Saturday, Tommy stopped eating. He also started breathing very heavily.

We took him to the emergency late that night as something was π•π„π‘π˜ wrong.

Tommy underwent many tests including blood work, urinalysis, fecal test, Γ—-rays, ultrasound and echo.

And the result was so heartbreaking😭

Tommy was diagnosed with congestive heart failure.

It turned out that Tommy was having repeated heatstrokes while living on the roof. He was also not fed properly during that time and this has contributed to having a failure in his left side of his heart.

Because his left side of the heart was failing, it wasn’t able to handle the blood it is getting from the lungs.

Pressure started to build up on the veins of the lungs causing fluid to leak into the lung tissues.

Tommy had to have fluid drained from his lungs, and is currently connected to an IV at all times.

In addition to that, Tommy is not eating at all.

Tommy is having his blood tested each day to monitor his anemia. He is also taking medications to regulate his blood pressure and combat the fluid build up in his lungs.

Tommy has a lot of blood clots and he is at high risk of having seizures at any timeπŸ’”

Tommy will remain hospitalised until he becomes more stable and is eating on his own.

With everything going on right now with the 69 dumped dogs, Cleo’s surgery next week, and all other cases, we really need help to support Tommy.
