Ash is a 4-month-old kitten who was severely injured in an explosion in the south of Lebanon. She suffered burns around her mouth, leaving her bones exposed and causing immense pain.
Ash underwent emergency surgery for a mandibular avulsion, where part of her lower jaw had been forcibly detached. After this surgery, a CT scan was performed to assess the full extent of her injuries. The results revealed multiple fractures in her jaw, under her eye, lower spine, and tailbone.
One of the injuries is an avulsion of the sacro-coccygeal region, where the lower part of her spine (sacrum) and tailbone (coccyx) were detached. Fortunately, the surgeon decided not to operate on this area, as it is expected to heal on its own, especially since Ash is still a kitten.
Ash also has a non-displaced fracture of the left TMJ condyle, meaning that the bones in the joint connecting her jawbone to her skull (TMJ) are cracked but haven’t shifted out of place. This type of fracture causes significant pain and limits her ability to move her jaw. The surgeon is monitoring her ability to open her mouth properly before determining if further intervention will be necessary, especially given the previous surgery for the mandibular avulsion.
Additionally, Ash has a mandibular growth plate fracture, which affects the part of the jawbone responsible for its growth and alignment. When the surgeon returned to Lebanon, he repaired this fracture, which was crucial to ensure proper jaw development. Without this treatment, Ash’s jaw growth and alignment would have been severely affected.
Ash’s recovery is long and challenging, but we are doing everything we can to help her heal.
In order to do that we need your help to cover her surgeries fees and hospitalisation.
