Two kittens were saved from the airstrikes in Dahye two days ago and moved to a ‘safer’ area on the street before we took them into our care.
They were in terrible condition. There were originally three kittens, but we couldn’t find the third one. We believe she may have died.
The ‘safe’ area was bombed yesterday by an airstrike and has now collapsed💔
It is heartbreaking for all the animals in the area. Many animals were around that building when it collapsed after the airstrike. They didn’t understand anything, and suddenly, they saw a tall building falling under them, taking their lives. We can only hope that their deaths were merciful and that they died instantly without suffering.
The two we rescued had severe injuries to their eyes, and sadly, there was no hope for them to see again. But we were trying our best to save their lives as they were extremely dehydrated.
Unfortunately, one of the kittens passed awa💔
He was the most fragile, and despite being placed in an incubator, he didn’t survive. We did everything we could, but it wasn’t enough. His brother, however, is much stronger, though his eyes are even more damaged than his. We are deeply saddened that we couldn’t save him, but at least we know he died peacefully, not under the airstrikes or the intense heat from the explosions.
The kitten was born in the middle of war, and he suffered so much. He was an innocent kitten and didn’t deserve this fate.
Freddy, the remaining kitten, was taken to the vet again as his eyes are getting worse. The dead tissue in his eyes is being cleaned, and we were asked to continue cleaning them, though it’s incredibly difficult even to look at them, let alone clean them.
The surgeon told us that Freddy now weighs 500 grams. Normally, surgery is not performed on a kitten this small, but once he reaches 700 grams, we will proceed immediately to remove his eyes, as they are affecting his overall health.
It makes us so sad that, because of the war, animals are dying. They don’t understand what’s happening, and it’s unbearable to watch them suffer. We truly hope and pray for this war to end. Please, let’s pray for peace.
