Leon…
We still cannot believe you are gone.
You went through so much since you were only 3 weeks old. Your ears were cut by humans, and you survived that pain.
You survived the streets after they dumped you because the surgery didn’t make you look like a Scottish Fold.
You survived everything that was done to you.
You survived parvo.
You went through surgery to open your ears because you were almost deaf… and you made it.
You were doing so well. Your stitches were removed 3 days ago, you were healthy, and you were ready for a new life.
You were spayed, vaccinated, safe… and ready to be adopted.
You were so sweet. So loving. So forgiving… as if nothing had ever happened to you.
And then suddenly… everything changed.
One day you were okay.
The next day you couldn’t breathe.
We rushed you to the hospital, but your little body couldn’t fight anymore. Even in the oxygen room, you left us.
We are broken, Leon.
After everything you survived… we never imagined losing you like this.
We don’t understand what happened. We don’t understand how it all ended so fast. We are still in denial.
But deep inside, we are scared. We saw similar sudden deaths in 2025 after the war “ended.”
We are only 5 minutes away from Dahyeh, a heavily bombed area. The air is filled with toxic substances; chemicals we don’t even know we are breathing.
And our animals… the most fragile souls… are the first to suffer.
This sudden bronchitis, lungs failing.… it is not normal.
We are scared for our other babies. Our residents with weak immunity.
Today, we are mourning. Some may think it is wrong to grieve for a cat while people are suffering and dying… but Leon was our baby. We still cannot accept that she is gone.
We are so sorry… we tried to protect you from everything, Leon, but some things are out of our hands.
You were our baby.
And you will always be🌈
