When people returned to Dahyeh after the ceasefire, they found him aloneโฆ with a broken front leg. No mother. No protection.
Honestly, we donโt know how he survived the explosions.
We donโt know how he made it out alive.
But he did.
We rushed him to the surgeonโฆ and the truth was worse than we expected.
The trauma was not just a fracture.
Most likely, a piece of concrete or debris fell on him during the bombings.
The impact damaged the nerve between his brain and his front paw.
He cannot feel it at all.
He drags it behind himโฆ completely numb.
This means he can injure himself without even knowing.
This means infections are only a matter of time.
There is no way to save the leg.
It has to be amputated.
Can you imagineโฆ a 3-month-old puppy losing his leg because of a war he didnโt understand?
And yetโฆ he still looks at us with trust.
We are doing everything we can, but we cannot do this alone.
