He came from Dahyeh with what we thought was a broken leg.
Today, the surgeon examined him and diagnosed him with brachial plexus avulsion.
This means that the nerves that connect his brain to his leg have been torn. His leg is no longer connected neurologically. He cannot feel it, he cannot move it, and he does not even know it is there.
This is why his paw is positioned like this.
This condition is most likely the result of a strong hit to the head💔
Keeping the leg is not an option. Because he feels nothing, he can injure it without realizing. It can drag, develop wounds, become infected, and cause a lot of pain. The only way forward is amputation💔
His surgery is scheduled for this Thursday.
Cost: 450 USD.
We already have an unpaid bill of 150 USD for his initial tests and X-rays.
His blood work is overall acceptable, with mild anemia.
He tested negative for FIV and FELV.
He will also be neutered during the same procedure.
Despite everything, Hook is one of the sweetest cats we have met. Calm, affectionate, and trusting. He leans into people as if nothing bad has ever happened to him.
